About Yarrow Gardens

A unique collection of broadleaf and evergreen trees

Yarrow Gardens is a respected supplier of high-quality trees, seeds, and plants, serving the needs of gardeners throughout the United Kingdom.

We take great pride in growing a significant portion of our stock on our own nursery, allowing us to maintain strict quality control and ensure the health and vitality of our plants. Our diverse range is carefully curated to include species well-suited to the British climate, offering both aesthetic appeal and functionality in your garden.

With a dedication to providing excellent customer service and sharing our extensive horticultural knowledge, Yarrow Gardens is committed to helping you create and nurture a truly exceptional British garden.

Nestled in the picturesque countryside of West Lancashire, Yarrow Gardens is situated in the elevated region of Euxton, at an altitude of 30 meters. Our unique location affords us a temperate climate throughout much of the year, providing ideal growing conditions for our plants.

Although our slightly higher elevation exposes us to more wind compared to the rest of Euxton, we have implemented strategic windbreaks and benefit from the shelter of a mature, 30-year-old pine forest.

These carefully placed barriers protect our plants while allowing the gentle breeze to encourage the development of robust, resilient growth, ensuring that our specimens are well-prepared to thrive in their new homes with you.

We are actively engaged in nurturing our plants throughout the year. In January, we begin the process of stratifying seeds, preparing them for optimal germination. As spring arrives in March and April, we carefully prick out seedlings, ensuring they have the space and resources needed for healthy growth. Following the last frost in May, we transfer our saplings outdoors, allowing them to benefit from the warm late spring and summer conditions.

During the summer months, our trees and seedlings experience rapid growth, and we diligently pot them up to accommodate their expanding root systems. As autumn approaches, we make preparations for the cooler months, bringing some of our young trees back inside to protect them from the harsh winter elements.

Winter brings a change of pace, as we focus on essential pruning and maintenance tasks to keep our plants in top condition. This season also allows us to plan meticulously for the upcoming year, ensuring that we are well-prepared to continue providing our customers with the highest quality trees, seeds, and plants.

Our passion for nurturing plants shines through in our year-round commitment to their care and development.

We maintain an unwavering commitment to industry-leading biosecurity measures, ensuring that our nursery remains free from disease and contamination. As a DEFRA-registered establishment, we are subject to regular inspections to confirm our compliance with all current plant health regulations.

Our Plant Passport Registration Number is GB140010, and we are fully transparent about our practices. You can view our Plant Healthy report here.

We take great pride in the fact that the majority of our trees are grown right here in the United Kingdom. We do not import many trees from abroad, with the exception of certain specific that are sourced from their native provenances. This commitment to local growth allows us to maintain strict control over the quality and health of our plants.

In our ongoing efforts to provide the best possible products and services to our customers, we are actively working towards obtaining both the Grown in Britain and Plant Healthy certifications. These certifications will serve as further testament to our dedication to sustainable, responsible, and healthy plant production.

We understand that plant health is of the utmost importance to our customers, and we welcome any questions or concerns you may have regarding our practices. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us, as we are always happy to provide additional information and assurances about the measures we take to ensure the health and vitality of our plants.
