Plant Xanthoceras sorbifolium in well-draining, fertile soil in full sun to partial shade. It prefers a sheltered position away from strong winds. Water regularly during establishment and during dry spells, but avoid waterlogging.
This species is relatively low-maintenance once established but may benefit from occasional feeding with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring. Protect young plants from severe frost in colder regions of the UK.
