The Nana Aureovariegata Sawara Cypress, Chamaecyparis pisifera ‘Nana Aureovariegata’, is a unique dwarf conifer that brings colourful charm to UK gardens with its striking mixed foliage.
This cultivar is notable for its dense rounded shape, making it an excellent choice for small spaces and rock gardens.
It thrives in well-drained soil and prefers a sunny to partially shaded location to achieve its best colouration. Ideal for container planting or as a low-growing feature in mixed borders, the Nana Aureovariegata Sawara Cypress is a low-maintenance plant that provides year-round visual interest.
Its slow growth rate and manageable size make it a favourite among gardeners looking for an eye-catching specimen that complements both contemporary and traditional garden styles.
‘Nana Aureovariegata ‘ typically grows to a height of 0.5 – 1m in a globe shape, although it can achieve greater heights in optimal conditions. Its growth rate is moderate.
It prefers well-drained soil and can be grown in full sun to partial shade. However, the most vibrant colouration of the foliage is often achieved with more sun exposure however avoid very exposed positions.
Thanks to its distinctive colour and texture, ‘Blue Moon’ is often used as a specimen tree in gardens. It can also be included in mixed borders, foundation plantings, or even as a hedge when planted in a series.
This cultivar benefits from regular watering, especially in the first few years after planting and during extended dry spells. Pruning is generally not required unless you’re aiming to achieve a specific shape or size.

With regret, we can no longer send items out to Northern Ireland. All live plants need a phytosanitary checks and DAERA must be notified. This process is simply too expensive at the moment.

In the rare instance that your item has been damaged during delivery or incorrectly shipped by us, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss the return and replacement of your item.
Once you have contacted us and we have confirmation that your parcel is on its way back to us we will be happy to issue a refund for the return postage.

We are a small family business based in Euxton, West Lancashire. We specialise in the supply of trees, shrubs both bare root & cell grown. Much of our stock is grown directly on site from seed or cuttings. Other stock is all UK sourced where possible.
We adhere to industry leading biosecurity measures, this ensures that our nursery remains clean and disease free.
We are DEFRA registered and our nursery is regularly inspected to confirm compliance with all current plant and plant health regulations.
