Creeping Juniper ‘Limeglow’ is a striking evergreen that can bring a burst of bright colour to your garden throughout the year. This variety of Juniperus horizontalis stands out with its vibrant lime-green foliage that seems to glow, especially in the spring when new growth emerges. It’s a low-growing, spreading shrub that forms a dense carpet of foliage, making it perfect for gardeners who want to add ground cover with a lively twist.
‘Limeglow’ typically spreads to about 1-1.5 metres wide but only reaches about 10-15 cm in height over 10 years, growing at a moderate rate. Its low, spreading habit means it can work well in many garden settings, from sloping banks and rock gardens to the front of borders or even spilling over the edges of containers. The lime-green needle-like foliage provides year-round interest, looking particularly striking when contrasted with darker green plants or set against grey stone or gravel.
One of the best things about this juniper is how it can brighten up your garden. Its lime-green colour adds a fresh, zesty feel to planting schemes. This makes it especially valuable in partly shaded areas where it can lighten up dark corners. The low, spreading form also adds interesting texture and structure to your garden design.
Gardeners often choose ‘Limeglow’ for its easy-going nature and hardiness. Once established, it’s very tolerant of different soil types and can cope with drought and urban pollution. This makes it a good choice for low-maintenance gardens or challenging spots where other plants might struggle. It’s also resistant to most pests and diseases, so you won’t need to worry about constant care.
If you’re after a plant that looks good all year without needing lots of work, ‘Limeglow’ is a great choice. It keeps its bright colour through all seasons, providing constant interest in your garden.
Creeping Junipers have been popular in gardens for many years, valued for their hardiness and versatility. The ‘Limeglow’ variety brings a vibrant twist to this classic plant, offering all the toughness of a juniper with an extra pop of colour.
For gardeners looking to add year-round colour and low-maintenance ground cover to their gardens, Creeping Juniper ‘Limeglow’ is an excellent option. Its attractive foliage, spreading form, and easy-care nature make it a valuable addition to any outdoor space.
Caring for Creeping Juniper ‘Limeglow’ is straightforward, which is great news for gardeners. Plant it in a spot that gets full sun to partial shade – full sun will help maintain the best lime-green colour. It prefers well-drained soil but can adapt to various soil types, including poor or rocky soils. Water regularly when it’s first planted to help it establish. Once settled, it’s very drought-tolerant and rarely needs watering except in prolonged dry spells. You don’t need to feed it often – a light application of slow-release fertiliser in spring is enough. Pruning isn’t usually necessary, but you can trim it lightly to maintain its shape if needed. Keep an eye out for any signs of browning or dieback, which could indicate stress. ‘Limeglow’ is very hardy and can cope with winters without extra protection, even in exposed or coastal areas.
