Natural Germination: Dawn Redwood seeds require a period of cold stratification to germinate, mimicking the winter conditions. Plant the seeds in a moist, well-drained soil mix and expose them to winter temperatures outdoors, or keep them in a cold frame or unheated greenhouse.
Artificial Stratification: For artificial germination, soak the seeds in water for 24 hours, then place them in moist sand or a damp paper towel. Seal them in a plastic bag and refrigerate for 2 weeks to simulate winter conditions. After stratification, sow the seeds on the surface of a well-draining soil mix and maintain a temperature of 18-22°C with adequate lighting.
