Pinus armandii is a medium to large evergreen tree that typically reaches heights of 20 to 50 meters (66 to 164 feet). It has a conical or columnar shape with a straight trunk and dense, spreading branches.
The needles are slender, dark green, and measure about 10 to 15 centimetres (4 to 6 inches) in length, arranged in bundles of five.
The cones of this pine tree are relatively large, measuring 10 to 20 centimetres (4 to 8 inches) in length. They have a cylindrical shape and are often tinged with purple when immature. As they mature, the cones turn brown and release seeds.
