The Turkish Pine brings a touch of Mediterranean charm to gardens. This striking evergreen pine grows into a magnificent specimen tree with a broad, umbrella-shaped crown. Its long, bright green needles catch the light beautifully, creating an eye-catching display all year round. The bark develops a lovely reddish-brown colour as it matures, adding winter interest. This pine is brilliant for larger gardens, where it can reach heights of 15-20 metres over many years.
It’s a tough tree that handles coastal conditions well, making it perfect for seaside gardens. The Turkish Pine also copes nicely with dry spells once established. In spring and summer, the fresh growth brings an especially vibrant shade of green to the garden. Birds love to nest in its dense foliage, bringing extra wildlife to your space. Originally from the eastern Mediterranean, this pine has proven itself highly adaptable to British growing conditions.
Plant your Turkish Pine in full sun or partial shade, in well-drained soil. While it prefers slightly acidic to neutral soil, it will tolerate most soil types as long as they don’t get waterlogged. Water regularly in the first growing season to help establish a strong root system, but after that, it’s quite drought-tolerant. No regular pruning is needed – simply remove any dead or crossing branches in late winter. This pine doesn’t need feeding in most garden soils, though a general fertiliser in spring can be helpful in very poor soils.
Please note: Decorative pots shown are for display purposes only. Your tree will be supplied in a standard plastic nursery pot shown in the other pictures.
