Seabuckthorn Trees

Hippophae rhamnoides

Sea buckthorn trees are hardy, deciduous shrubs or small trees renowned for their abundant crops of nutritious, bright orange berries. Packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids, these tart fruits are highly prized for their medicinal and culinary uses.

  • Prolific crops of small, bright orange berries ripen in late summer.
  • Berries are rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, and rare omega-7 fatty acids.
  • Thorny branches with silvery foliage make an excellent windbreak or hedge.
  • Drought-tolerant and adaptable, thriving in various soils and conditions.

Plant sea buckthorns in full sun and well-draining soil. Space 5-10 feet apart for hedges or windbreaks. Both male and female plants are needed for fruit production. Prune lightly in late winter to maintain shape and encourage new growth.
