Variegated Hiba Arborvitae – Thujopsis dolabrata ‘Variegata’ is a striking ornamental conifer that brings distinctive variegated foliage and year-round visual interest to gardens.
This cultivar is prized for its creamy-white markings on rich green leaves, creating a stunning contrast throughout the seasons. Ideal for adding diversity to garden borders, it develops into a dense, pyramidal form, making it an excellent focal point or mixed planting companion.
The Variegated Hiba Arborvitae thrives in moist, well-drained soil and prefers partial shade to protect its delicate variegation from harsh sunlight. Its slow growth rate and manageable size make it suitable for gardens of all sizes, including urban spaces.
In addition to its aesthetic appeal, it’s valued for its hardiness and low maintenance requirements, making it a reliable and attractive choice for both novice and experienced gardeners.
The Variegated Hiba Arborvitae prefers moist, well-drained soil and partial shade to protect its variegated leaves. Regular watering is important, particularly in dry periods, to maintain consistent moisture levels. Mulching can help conserve soil moisture. It requires minimal pruning, mainly to shape or remove any damaged branches.
