Box Elders are low-maintenance trees that are easy to grow in UK gardens. They prefer full sun to partial shade and can adapt to most soil types, though they grow best in moist, well-drained soil. Water young trees regularly until established, after which they’re quite drought-tolerant. Prune in late winter or early spring to remove dead, diseased, or crossing branches. Box Elders can be prone to suckering, so remove suckers as they appear to maintain the tree’s shape. Fertilise in spring with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser if growth seems slow. Be aware that Box Elders can self-seed readily, so you may need to remove seedlings to prevent them from spreading where unwanted.

These are 2 year old saplings we have grown ourselves. Supplied in 2 litre pots. Approx 40cm/60cm tall.
