Lawson Cypress ‘Pembury Blue’ is a stunning evergreen conifer that can bring a touch of cool elegance to your UK garden. This variety stands out with its beautiful blue-grey foliage, which keeps its colour all year round. It’s a great choice if you want to add some variety to the usual green palette of most gardens.

‘Pembury Blue’ grows into a neat, conical shape without much fuss. It reaches about 4-6 metres tall over 20 years, making it a good size for most gardens. You won’t need to worry about it taking over your space too quickly. Its compact form means it can fit well in smaller gardens or work as a stylish backdrop in larger ones.

One of the best things about this tree is how it can brighten up a dull corner. The blue-grey needles seem to catch the light, adding a bit of sparkle to your garden even on cloudy days. This makes it particularly useful in the UK, where we often have overcast weather.

Gardeners often choose ‘Pembury Blue’ for its low-maintenance nature. Once it’s settled in, it doesn’t need much looking after. It’s hardy enough to cope with UK winters and doesn’t mind urban pollution, so it’s a good pick for town gardens too.

This cypress works well in different garden styles. It can add a formal touch to traditional gardens or bring some structure to more relaxed, cottage-style planting. You could use it as a standalone feature, plant a few to create a screen, or mix it with other plants in a border.

For UK gardeners looking to add year-round structure and a splash of cool colour to their gardens, Lawson Cypress ‘Pembury Blue’ is an excellent option. Its attractive foliage, neat shape, and easy-care nature make it a valuable addition to any outdoor space.

Lawson Cypress ‘Pembury Blue’ is easy to care for in UK gardens. Plant in well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Water regularly when young, but once established, it’s fairly drought-tolerant. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Pruning isn’t essential, but you can shape it in late winter if needed. Feed with a balanced fertiliser in spring.
