This twin pack of Dogwood – Cornus sericea ‘Flaviramea’ and Siberian Dogwood – Cornus alba ‘Sibirica’ is a cracking combo for adding some winter zing to your garden. The Yellow Twig Dogwood, as you might guess, sports bright yellow stems that really pop against a winter landscape. Its partner in crime, the Siberian Dogwood, counters with vibrant red stems. Both shrubs grow to about 2-3 metres tall and wide, forming dense, multi-stemmed bushes. In spring and summer, they’re covered in oval, dark green leaves, and come autumn, these turn to shades of red and purple before falling to reveal those colourful stems.

Both dogwoods produce small, creamy-white flowers in late spring, followed by white berries that birds go mad for. They’re proper wildlife-friendly plants, providing food and shelter for all sorts of garden visitors. These shrubs are brilliant for damp spots in the garden, happy to get their feet wet near ponds or in boggy areas where other plants might turn up their noses.

The real magic happens when you plant them together. The contrast between the yellow and red stems creates a stunning winter display that’ll brighten up even the gloomiest January day. They’re perfect for creating a colourful hedge, as part of a mixed border, or as standalone specimens in a winter garden.

Plant your dogwoods in full sun or partial shade in moist, well-drained soil. They’re not too fussy about soil type but do best in slightly acidic to neutral conditions. Water regularly, especially during dry spells. For the best stem colour, cut them back hard (about 5cm from the ground) in early spring. This encourages lots of new, brightly coloured growth. Feed with a general-purpose fertiliser after pruning to give them a boost.

We’d recommend planting at the back of a border as shoots will reach 1.8-2.5m. This stunning variety looks amazing when planted in groups besides water or in a winter border amongst other varieties of dogwood.

2x Dogwoods supplied about 60/80cm tall, well rooted in a 2 litre pots.
