Natural Germination: Pinus massoniana seeds generally require a period of cold stratification to germinate effectively. This can be naturally achieved by sowing the seeds outdoors in autumn, allowing them to experience the winter cold, which prepares them for sprouting in spring.

Artificial Stratification: For artificial stratification, mix the seeds with moist sand and refrigerate at 2-5°C for about 30-60 days. This method simulates the natural winter conditions, breaking the seed dormancy. After stratification, sow the seeds in a warm environment, ideally between 18-22°C, to encourage germination.
