Black Pine ‘Green Rocket’ Pinus nigra is a brilliant columnar conifer that shoots skyward in a tight, narrow form. This special variety grows as a slim column with deep green needles held close to the upright branches. The long, stiff needles grow in pairs and create a dense, rich texture that stays smart throughout the year. It’s a perfect choice for small gardens where you need height but can’t spare the width. Growing steadily upward rather than out, it keeps its slender rocket shape naturally with little pruning needed. The strong vertical shape is particularly striking in winter when it stands boldly against grey skies. It works brilliantly as a slim screen, in pairs to frame paths or doorways, or as a striking focal point.
Plant your Green Rocket Pine in full sun where it can grow freely upward. It’s adaptable to most soil types but needs good drainage. Water regularly in the first growing season until established, then only during dry spells. A yearly feed with general-purpose fertiliser in spring is plenty. The natural rocket shape means very little pruning is needed, though you can control the height by removing the central growing tip in spring. While it’s quite wind-resistant due to its narrow form, avoid very exposed sites.

With regret, we can no longer send items out to Northern Ireland. All live plants need a phytosanitary checks and DAERA must be notified. This process is simply too expensive at the moment.

We are a small family business based in Euxton, West Lancashire. We specialise in the supply of trees, shrubs both bare root & cell grown. Much of our stock is grown directly on site from seed or cuttings. Other stock is all UK sourced where possible.
