Nootka Cypress ‘Gloria Polonica’ Xanthocyparis nootkatensis is a stunning variegated conifer that brings year-round beauty to gardens. This special cultivar shows off thread-like branches draped with a lovely mix of medium green and creamy yellow foliage in an even split. The weeping form creates an elegant silhouette that stands out in any setting.

This slower-growing variety makes a perfect specimen tree for smaller gardens. In 10 years, you can expect a height of 2-2.5m, making it more manageable than other cypress varieties. The colours become even more striking during autumn, creating a bright focal point that lights up shaded areas.

This cultivar earned a Bronze Medal at the Plantarium exhibition in 2008, proving its garden worthiness. It’s an excellent choice for adding structure and colour to gardens throughout the year.

Plant your ‘Gloria Polonica’ in moist, slightly acidic to neutral soil in a spot protected from harsh winds. Young trees need staking to support their weeping form. While adaptable to most soil types, this cypress doesn’t like air pollution, so it’s better suited to suburban or rural gardens. You can prune in early spring to maintain size if needed. The tree is very hardy and will cope well with British winters. Water regularly until established, then only during dry spells.

Please note: Decorative pots shown are for display purposes only. Your tree will be supplied in a standard plastic nursery pot shown in the other pictures.
