Atlas Cedar Seeds (Cedrus atlantica) present a unique opportunity for gardeners to cultivate one of the most majestic trees known for its striking silhouette and serene presence. This conifer is celebrated for its beautiful blue-green needles and a broad, pyramidal crown that becomes more open and spreading with age.

Ideal for larger landscapes in the UK, the Atlas Cedar requires ample space to showcase its grandeur, making it a perfect specimen tree. It thrives in full sun and adapts well to a variety of soil types, provided they are well-drained. Starting from seeds, gardeners can witness the slow but rewarding growth of this tree, which eventually forms a commanding presence in any garden. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, Cedrus atlantica is drought-resistant once established, requiring minimal maintenance.

Its wood is highly valued for its durability and scent, adding another layer of interest to this already fascinating species. Cultivating Atlas Cedar from seeds allows for a deep connection with the tree as it grows, marking the passage of time with its enduring beauty.

We also have a full range of Cedar trees; Altas Cedar – Cedrus atlantica, Cedar of Lebanon – Cedrus libani & Deodar Cedar – Cedrus deodara.

Autumn Interest Trees

Rare / Hard to Find Trees

Natural Germination: Atlas Cedar seeds typically require a cold period to break dormancy. In nature, seeds fall in autumn and go through winter’s cold, germinating in spring. Plant the seeds in autumn to align with this natural cycle.

Artificial Stratification: If planting at other times, soak for 24 hours, then optionally simulate this cold period by refrigerating the seeds for 30 days before sowing in a moist medium. Seeds should germinate at room temperature.
