Cedrus libani ‘Glauca’, the Blue Cedar of Lebanon, is a truly magnificent evergreen conifer that brings a touch of timeless elegance to any landscape. This cultivar is renowned for its striking blue-grey needles, which create a captivating, silvery appearance throughout the year.
As it matures, the tree develops a broad, pyramidal form with wide-spreading horizontal branches that create dramatic, tiered layers. This architectural structure becomes more pronounced with age, adding to its visual appeal.
In spring, male cones appear, releasing clouds of yellow pollen, while the female cones develop into large, barrel-shaped structures that stand upright on the branches. These cones can persist for years, adding further interest to the tree.

Water regularly during establishment and in prolonged dry periods, although it becomes drought-tolerant once established. Apply a layer of mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Minimal pruning is required; remove only dead or damaged branches as needed. Protect young trees from strong winds and heavy snow loads. Feed sparingly with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring if growth seems slow.
