Acer palmatum ‘Starfish’ is a striking cultivar of Japanese maple that offers unique visual interest throughout the seasons. Its most distinctive feature is its deeply cut, palmate leaves that resemble starfish, with narrow, slightly curved, toothed lobes. The foliage displays a dark reddish-purple colour in summer, transforming to a vibrant orange-red in autumn, providing a spectacular colour show.

In spring, the tree produces inconspicuous purple-red flowers, followed by winged, red-flushed fruits. This versatile maple is suitable for both sunny locations and areas with dappled shade, making it adaptable to various garden settings.
